The Wedding Social is a beautiful, full-color feature designed to showcase area brides and grooms on a page of their very own.  The Wedding Social is published twice a year in the January and June bridal issues of City Social.

We invite new brides and grooms to participate in the Wedding Social.  If you are newlyweds who would like to participate, you can submit your wedding photos and accompanying write-up for inclusion in the next edition at a cost of only $275 per full-page announcement.  Each full page provides for inclusion of a write-up of 500 words or fewer and from five to seven color photos.  You can purchase as many pages at $275 each as you desire for your announcement.  Participants will receive a photographic reproduction of their page suitable for framing (a $165 value!) and a copy of the issue in which their Wedding Page is featured.  Brides submitting to the January Wedding Social may also submit a bridal portrait for consideration to be used for that issue’s cover.

When Do I Register?

January 2008 Wedding Social: Reserve your page November 1, 2007—$275 publication fee

Packets should be completed and submitted at the time you reserve your space.  If your wedding has not taken place by the deadline, you’ll have plenty of time to reserve for the next Wedding Social issue.  (As a general rule, photographers need at least six weeks to process wedding photos, so if your wedding is less than six weeks before the deadline, you will probably need to wait until the next issue of the Wedding Social.)

How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of your full-page color announcement is $275 per page.  More than one page can be purchased if desired.

Be sure to enclose your payment in your packet and deliver or mail it to: January 2008 Wedding Social, c/o City Social Magazine, 4415 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd., Suite C, Baton Rouge, LA  70816.  We will accept your personal check or a money order, OR we’ll accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover Card, or American Express—just include your card number and expiration date with your name, address, and phone number. 

HOW DO I GET ON THE COVER?

When you submit your packet for the January Wedding Social, you are also welcome to submit one color bridal portrait (any size is fine) for cover consideration.  The winning selection will be kept confidential until the issue is printed.  If your portrait is selected, we will arrange to obtain a copy made in the size we require.

How Do I Register?

Follow these simple instructions:

o Fill out your checklist

o In a 9 x 12 envelope (or larger if necessary), enclose:

·      Your payment and personal information (if you registered early and have already paid, put a note to that effect in the packet), clipped to

·      Your completed checklist, clipped to

·      Your write-up;

·      Your CD, sealed in a #10 envelope;

·      Your photos or a CD of them, placed inside your unsealed SASE

Writing Your Announcement

Write-ups must be 500 words or fewer.  (The number of words in the write up will affect the number of photos we can print and their size, so keep that in mind.)  You may use text you submitted for the write-up in the local newspaper if you like, or you can prepare a special entertaining write-up about your courtship and wedding.  (City Social reserves the right to edit any write-ups submitted for the Wedding Social.)  However, you must type it and submit it via email or on a CD with your Wedding Social packet.  (See the checklist for specifications for your electronic document.)

q     Personal Information on a sheet of paper:

Your name

Address

Phone number

Bride’s full maiden name

Groom’s full name

Couple’s formal name (e.g., Mr. and Mrs. John Joe Smith)

Photographer’s name* and phone number

* We cannot publish photos without crediting the photographer

q     A CD containing your complete and final write-up, 500 words or fewer, saved in a “text-only” format.  On the CD label or cover, write your document name and the name of the word processing program you created your document in.  Make sure to triple-check your document for correct spelling!

q     The printed copy of your write-up, double-spaced, printed on white paper.  (We cannot accept newspaper clippings, photocopies, dot matrix printouts, script typefaces, or all-capitalized submissions.)

q     Five to seven color photos (preferably 4 x 5, but not absolutely necessary) or a CD of photos with your name and your photographer’s name attached.  (An address label or Post-It Note is ideal.  Do Not write directly on the back of the photos, as it may damage them.)

q     Bridal portrait to submit for cover photo competition, if desired (if not including a bridal portrait on your page). 

q     A self-addressed, stamped photo mailer or envelope with cut cardboard, to fit your photos.  We will use this to return your photos after the Wedding Social is printed.  (Please note that your photos will not be returned until the magazine has been printed.)
